Oregon nurses who are searching for a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program to advance their nursing careers are in luck. Such programs can prepare students for a career as Nurse Educator, Nurse Leader, or Advanced Practice Nurse. We have compiled a list of all nationally accredited MSN programs offered by colleges and universities in Oregon to help you with the search.
Oregon Health & Science University School of Nursing
A variety of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs are offered though Oregon Health & Science University’s School of Nursing. Programs are available to prepare Registered Nurses (RNs) in the following roles and specializations:
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Nurse Anesthesia
- Nurse-Midwifery
- Nursing Education (Concentrations available in Mental Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, and Adult-Gerontological Nursing)
Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an NLNAC/ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program with 3.0 or higher cumulative and science grade point averages (GPAs). The science GPA requirement does not apply to those in the Nursing Education program. Students must have completed a course in Statistics with a grade of “B” or higher within the previous five years. Applicants must submit competitive scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). They must hold or be eligible to hold an Oregon RN license at time of application, and must be licensed as an RN in the state of Oregon prior to matriculation. Candidates are required to have at least one year of experience, typically in settings relevant to their specialization.

University of Portland School of Nursing
The University of Portland’s School of Nursing offers two Master of Science in Nursing programs in the following specializations:
- Clinical Nurse Leader
- Nurse Educator
Applicants seeking entry into the MSN programs must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a nationally accredited nursing program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. They must have completed a course in Statistics. Students must submit GRE scores. They must hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the US. Licensure as an RN in Oregon is recommended.
