Georgetown University’s School of Nursing & Health Studies offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. MSN programs are available to prepare Registered Nurses (RNs) for a variety of roles/specializations including the following:;

Howard University College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences

The College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at Howard University offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree in two roles/specialty areas. MSNs are offered in the following:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Nurse Educator

Applicants to the MSN programs must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students must have successfully completed a course in Statistics. The Catholic University of AmericaSchool of Nursing

Master of Science in Nursing degree programs are offered by the School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America. Programs are available in the following roles/specialty areas:

  • Advanced Public/Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner dual program

The Family Nurse Practitioner program is also available online.

Those seeking entry into the MSN programs must hold a BSN degree from a regionally accredited institution and a nationally (NLNAC/ACEN or CCNE) accredited nursing program. Graduates of non-accredited nursing programs will be considered on an individual basis. Students are preferred to have both an overall and nursing GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. They must have completed an undergraduate or graduate level course in Statistics within the last two years with a grade of “B” or higher. Candidates are required to hold a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the US and should be eligible for licensure in Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia. The amount of recent work experience required as an RN depends on the specialization.

The George Washington UniversitySchool of Nursing

The School of Nursing at George Washington University offers multiple pathways to a Master of Science in Nursing degree. They offer an RN to MSN Bridge pathway and a traditional BSN to MSN pathway.

The RN to MSN pathway is designed for diploma and Associate’s prepared Registered Nurses who hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Nurses entering via this pathway are required to take a bridge course.

MSN programs are available in several areas of specialization including the following:

  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Clinical Research Administration
  • Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Health Care Quality
  • Nursing Leadership and Administration

An MSN program with a Nurse-Midwifery specialization is also offered in collaboration with Shenandoah University. Programs are offered online. Students can attend on a part-time or fill-time basis.

Applicants are required to hold either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or a combination of a diploma or Associate’s degree in nursing plus a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in their undergraduate coursework. Candidates must hold licensure as a Registered Nurse.
