Idaho State UniversitySchool of Nursing

Idaho State University’s School of Nursing offers Registered Nurses (RNs) two programs leading to a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. MSN programs are available to prepare nurses for roles in Nursing Education and Nursing Leadership.

Students seeking entry to the programs must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC/ACEN or CCNE. Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate work. Students must submit competitive Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. They must hold a valid and current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Northwest Nazarene University Department of Nursing

Multiple pathways to an MSN degree are available at Northwest Nazarene University through their Department of Nursing. They offer an RN to MSN pathway as well as a traditional BSN to MSN pathway.

Those Registered Nurses with only an Associate’s degree in nursing are eligible to enter the MSN program via the RN to MSN pathway. Those RNs with only a nursing diploma do not qualify.

The MSN program offered at Northwest Nazarene prepares nurses with a Nursing Leadership and Education specialization. Nurses with an Associate’s can complete their Master’s in 3 years. Those with a BSN can complete the program in 2 years.

Applicants entering via the RN to MSN pathway are required to hold an Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution with a overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Students must have completed a series of prerequisite undergraduate courses with grades of “C” or better including Pathophysiology, Statistics, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Community Health Nursing, Foundations of Nursing Research, and Leadership Development.

Applicants entering via the BSN to MSN pathway are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution with an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must have a current unencumbered RN license.
