University of Delaware School of Nursing

Two pathways to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree are offered by the University of Delaware’s (UD) School of Nurse. The pathways offered include a traditional BSN to MSN pathway as well as an RN to MSN Bridge pathway.

Students at UD can choose from 5 MSN program specializations regardless of the pathway chosen including the following:

  • Adult-Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Health Services Administration
  • Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner

The CNS and Health Services Administrations programs are offered in an online format. The Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner programs are offered in a hybrid format. All programs can be completed on both a full-time or part-time enrollment basis.

Applicants to the BSN to MSN programs must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an ACEN/NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program with a satisfactory GPA. They must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Delaware or the state where the student’s clinical practice is to be performed. Those applicants who choose the CNS or NP specialization should have at least one year of recent clinical experience in a related specialty are prior to starting clinical. Those who choose the Health Services Administration specialization should have one year of management experience in a health-related field or three years experience in a professional health related practice.

Applicants to the RN to MSN Bridge program are required to hold a license as a Registered Nurse as well as to hold an Associate’s degree in Nursing or a nursing diploma. They must have a 3.0 GPA on all previous college work.

Wilmington University College of Heath Professions

Wilmington University’s College of Health Professions offers Master of Science in Nursing programs to prepare professional nurses for roles in advanced nursing practice. MSN programs are offered in specialized areas of Nursing Leadership and Nurse Practitioner.

Students seeking to become a Nurse Practitioner can choose from two areas of concentration: Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. The programs are offered in a traditional classroom format.

Those students seeking a career in Nursing Leadership role can choose from three concentration areas: Nursing Executive, Nursing Educator, and Legal Nurse Consultant. These programs are available in several formats including traditional classroom format, online format, and hybrid format.

Applicants to the MSN programs at Wilmington University must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a nationally accredited program in nursing. Students must hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate course in Statistics with a grade of “C” or better. Those entering the Nurse Practitioner MSN program must have completed an additional undergraduate course (or equivalent Continuing Education course) in Health Assessment with grades of “C” or better.
