North Dakota State University Department of Nursing
North Dakota State University’s Department of Nursing offers graduate study for Registered Nurses (RN) leading to a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. The program prepares nurses for the role of Nurse Educator.
Applicants to the program are required to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a nationally accredited nursing program. They must have an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Students must have completed undergraduate courses in Nursing Research and Health Assessment. Candidates are required to hold current unencumbered licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse.

University of Mary Division of Nursing
University of Mary’s Division of Nursing offers multiple pathways to a Master of Science in Nursing degree. They offer both an RN to MSN pathway and a BSN to MSN pathway.
The RN to MSN program is designed for diploma or Associate’s prepared Registered Nurses. The program prepares nurses as Nurse Administrators. It requires students to have completed a series of prerequisite courses prior to admission. Once admitted to the program, students take two bridge courses (Community as Partner and The Professional Nurse) before progressing into the MSN coursework.
Those entering via the BSN to MSN pathway are offered additional specializations. They can choose from the following:
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Nurse Administrator
- Nurse Educator
An MSN/MBA in Healthcare Administration dual degree program is also available to BSN prepared nurses.
Those entering the RN to MSN Nursing Administration program must hold a diploma or Associate’s degree in nursing. They must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Students must have completed a series of prerequisite courses including Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Microbiology, Sociology, Psychology, Nutrition, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Composition II, and Oral Composition. Candidates are required to hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Those entering via the BSN to MSN pathway are required to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75. Students must have a current unencumbered RN license.

University of North Dakota College of Nursing
A Master of Science in Nursing degree is offered by the College of Nursing at the University of North Dakota. The MSN programs available there prepare Registered Nurses for the following roles/specializations:
- Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner
- Advanced Public Health Nursing
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Nurse Anesthesia
- Nurse Educator
- Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Applicants to the MSN programs are required to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an NLNAC/ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program with a 3.0 or higher undergraduate GPA in the last two years of study. They must have completed a course in Statistics. Students must hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse. It is preferred that applicants also have at least one year of practice experience as a Registered Nurse.
