Northeastern State UniversityDepartment of Health Professions

Northeastern State University’s Department of Health Professions offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. Registered Nurses (RNs) in the program will specialize in Nursing Education. The program requires 32 credit hours for completion.

Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a regionally accredited institution and a nationally accredited nursing program. They must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate coursework or a 3.0 GPA for all undergraduate nursing major coursework. Students must have completed courses in Statistics and Nursing Research with grades of “C” or higher. They are required to submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller’s Analogies Test (MAT) scores. Candidates should hold a current license as a Registered Nurses.

Oklahoma Baptist University College of Nursing

The College of Nursing at Oklahoma Baptist University offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree. MSN programs are available to prepare RNs with specializations in Nursing Education as well as Global Nursing.

Applicants to the program are required to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree including a course in Statistics. Candidates must submit either GRE or MAT scores. Students must be licensed as a Registered Nurse. Two or more years of experience practicing as an RN is preferred.

Oklahoma City UniversityKramer School of Nursing

Oklahoma City University’s Kramer School of Nursing offers two pathways to a Master of Science in Nursing degree: an RN to MSN pathway and a BSN to MSN pathway.

The RN to MSN pathway allows diploma and Associate’s prepared RNs with a non-nursing Bachelor’s to enter an MSN program without first earning a BSN. Students are required to complete three undergraduate bridge courses before progressing into the MSN curriculum: Health Assessment, Community Health Nursing, and Nursing Leadership. These are the only Bachelor’s level courses that are required.

MSN programs are available in two specializations:

  • Nursing Education
  • Nursing Leadership

Those entering via the RN to MSN pathway are required to hold a diploma or Associate’s degree in nursing as well as a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field of study from an accredited college or university. They must have a 3.0 or higher undergraduate cumulative GPA. Students must be licensed as a Registered Nurse.

Those entering via the BSN to MSN pathway must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a nationally accredited nursing program with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. They must have completed courses in Health Assessment and Statistics. They must hold licensure to practice as an RN.

Southern Nazarene University School of Nursing

The School of Nursing at Southern Nazarene University offers multiple pathways to a Master of Science in Nursing degree. They offer both an RN to MSN pathway and a BSN to MSN pathway.

The RN to MSN program is designed for RNs without a Bachelor’s degree in nursing but who do hold a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field of study. Students meet with the graduate coordinator in order to create an individualized plan for completing entrance requirements. The program can be completed in as little as 19 months.

MSN programs are available in the following areas of specialty:

  • Nursing Education
  • Nursing Leadership

Applicants to the RN to MSN program must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing major with a 3.0 or higher GPA in undergraduate courses. They must have completed a Statistics course and demonstrate basic computer literacy. Candidates are required to hold an active RN license in the state where they are employed as a nurse.

Applicants to the BSN to MSN program are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program with at least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA for unconditional admission. Those with GPAs lower than 3.0 will be considered on an individual basis for conditional admittance. They must have successfully completed a basic course in Statistics and have documented basic computer literacy. Students must hold current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma or eligibility for the same.
